Rehabilitation Services
Deaconess Illinois Medical Center offers a wide variety of rehabilitation services – including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and more – to help you get back to your normal routine and improve your overall health and physical condition.
The therapy team of physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and speech language pathologists provide one-on-one care, individualized care. The services provided are offered to all ages and in a variety of settings, including hospital inpatient or in one of the outpatient clinics.
During your first visit, a therapist will perform an evaluation to assess pain, ability and function of all affected areas. Next, a therapy plan will be created to fit your individual needs. In most cases, the same therapist or therapy assistant will provide your care for the duration of your treatment. This fosters continuity of care and improved communication between you, the therapist and the referring physician.
Services include:
- Occupational Therapy
- Physical Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- Stroke Rehabilitation
Individualized Treatment Process
Therapy services require a referral from a health care professional, such as a physician, podiatrist, nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant. Your insurance carrier may require prior authorization before beginning treatments. On your first visit, you will be evaluated by a licensed therapist. Based on that evaluation, the therapist will discuss the best treatment options and recommend a comprehensive, individualized course of treatment. With your help and commitment, the therapist will continually reassess and change the program as needed to meet the your goals and expectations.
