If you have a wound related to vascular disease or diabetic foot ulcers, Charcot foot, or deep vein thrombosis, you need the support of a multidisciplinary team that can help reduce the chance of serious complications – including amputation. The team at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center works together to provide quality care that can include reconstructive surgery.
The goal of this team approach at our limb preservation center in Marion, Illinois is the reduction of amputations.
Because all cases are unique, some patients may require acute inpatient care and outpatient follow-up care while others may just need outpatient care. In any case, wound care specialists employ a team approach that enables us to provide full support even if you have one or more complex diseases or conditions.
The multidisciplinary wound care team includes:

Candidates for limb preservation program include those dealing with:
- Diabetic foot ulcer and diabetic foot pain
- Peripheral arterial disease (PAD)
- Complex foot and ankle deformity
- Arterial occlusive disease
- Critical limb ischemia
- Deep vein thrombosis
We provide both inpatient and outpatient care. Services include:
- Care for diabetic foot complications: infections, wounds, Charcot foot
- Vascular surgery: vascular reconstructive surgery
- Reconstructive foot and ankle surgery
- Orthotics and total contact casting
- Rehabilitation with our Skilled Nursing Unit or Acute Rehabilitation Unit
