Deaconess Illinois Medical Center First in U.S. to Implement Advanced MRI Hardware Configuration
Marion, Illinois — Deaconess Illinois Medical Center is proud to announce the installation of a SIGNA™ Hero 3T MRI system with AIR™ Recon DL, an artificial intelligence (AI) solution developed by GE HealthCare. Deaconess Illinois Medical Center is the first in the United States to install the recently upgraded hardware on the SIGNA™ Hero 3T MRI System, designed to enhance imaging capabilities.
This new hardware configuration optimizes the MRI system to deliver improved image quality and efficiency, featuring a 60-channel AIR™ Posterior Array coil and 129-channel RF chain that provides flexibility in positioning and for whole body imaging. When paired with AIR Recon DL, SIGNA Hero 3T MRI leverages deep-learning algorithms to produce sharper, clearer images while reducing scan times— supporting timely diagnoses and improved patient outcomes.
This expansion enhances diagnostic imaging services with advanced capabilities for the brain, prostate, musculoskeletal system, abdomen and cardiac care, while broadening access to comprehensive imaging solutions for patients.
“This technology is game-changing for both our patients and our care teams,” said Katie Warren, Illinois Region Director of Imaging, Peri-Operative Services and Central Scheduling. “With reduced scan times and improved image clarity, we’re able to increase patient access, minimize time spent in the scanner and provide a comfortable overall experience. It’s an exciting step forward in how we deliver care to our community.”
“By bringing SIGNA™ Hero 3T MRI and AIR™ Recon DL to Deaconess Illinois Medical Center, we’re helping ensure patients in the Marion community can access innovative MR imaging close to home,” stated Steve Hayes, GE HealthCare U.S. and Canada VP for MR. “This technology is designed to support care teams with advanced imaging capabilities that can help support confident clinical decisions and strengthen diagnostic imaging services in Southern Illinois.”
This installation reflects Deaconess Illinois’ continued commitment to innovation in bringing advanced imaging to Southern Illinois. By integrating advanced MRI technology, the organization continues to elevate the standard of care for patients across the region.
