Deaconess Illinois Medical Center Performs First INARI Medical Procedures

Marion, Illinois – Cardiologist at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center have successfully complete the first INARI Medical mechanical thrombectomy procedures, marking a significant milestone for the cardiology program and expanding access to advanced, life-saving care for patients experiencing pulmonary embolisms.

The first procedure was performed by Fahd Syed, MD, Interventional Cardiologist, followed by a second procedure completed by Victor Mwansa MD, Deaconess Illinois Medical Center Interventional Cardiologist. These initial cases represent a major step forward in the hospital’s ability to treat complex cardiovascular emergencies using cutting-edge technology.

The INIARI Medical Flow Triever System is a minimally invasive, catheter-based technology designed to remove large blood clots from the pulmonary arteries without the use of thrombolytic drugs, reducing bleeding risks and allowing for faster patient recovery.
